Kaav Kabini

Jungle resort Kabini & Wildlife in Kabini

A cradle of affordable luxury coloured by the local landscape, KAAV Safari Lodge in Kabini offers the jungle getaway of lifetime, every time. We are a leisurely four-hour drive from Bangalore and poised to bring you untamed luxury at its very best.

The locale that has come to be termed as Kabini sits on the banks of its eponymous reservoir whose river winds its way from Wayanad in Kerala to join the Kaveri in Karnataka.

These shores, flanked by the Nagarhole and Bandipur National Parks, are widely regarded as one of the best, most accessible places in the country to sight wildlife.

A boat safari to its periphery turns into a bird-watcher’s paradise with over 250 species resting on the branches that emerge from within the reservoir’s waters – lending this landscape a magical aura.

WILDLIFE IN KABINI

Come summer, and our dense wildlife population is drawn to the lush meadows on the fringes of the reservoir and its flowing waters.

Forming a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve that spans an area of 5,522 sq. kms across the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, Kabini is home to the largest congregation of Asiatic elephants in the world. With Karnataka boasting of the highest population of tigers in the country, these jungles are every wildlife enthusiasts haven. But that’s nowhere near all you will see on your safaris. The vibrant jungles are teeming with leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs, chital, gaur, spotted dear, sambar, barking deer, four-horned antelopes, langurs and bison, to name a few.

SUSTAINABILITY

As good jungle denizens, we leave only the smallest footprint, finding ways to go back and wipe our tracks clean. An eco-friendly resort that practices sustainable hospitality, we at Kaav, go beyond low-impact tourism. Working in tandem with local communities, we strive to achieve true sustainability with annual plantings of endemic flora to maintain the crucial biodiversity of our home.

The luxury resort uses renewable energy sources wherever possible. Our kitchen waste is digested in a bio gas plant and the naturally-obtained methane is used for all our cooking. We take every care to put in more than we take out by recharging our groundwater tables and engaging a reverse osmosis system that provides potable water at low-energy expenditure. With our eyes to the future, we do our bit everyday so coming generations may also wander wonderstruck under a canopy of trees, enjoying fresh, unpolluted air.
